Scholarships

A Guide to Scholarships

Scholarships are a great way to get assistance with college expenses.  Aultman College has many Endowed & Gifted Scholarships available each year.  All scholarships are advertised as they become available. Information and applications are posted on the College website and WiseLine. Scholarships are divided between fall and spring semesters unless otherwise designated by the donor.

For other scholarship opportunities, consider resources in your community. Scholarships may be found by doing research at your local library, high school guidance office, religious organizations, employer, and community service organizations

(i.e. Kiwanis, Lions Club, Rotary, church, etc.).

We DO NOT recommend that students seek the help of private companies for scholarship searches. 

These companies prove to be costly and produce no greater results.

Endowed & Gifted Scholarships/Awards

 1892 Scholarship

An annual scholarship awarded to an incoming Aultman College freshman student in commemoration of the education history that started with the opening of the doors of the Aultman School of Professional Nursing in 1892.

Alice Ott Memorial Scholarship

A scholarship awarded to a nursing student in memory of Alice Ott. Applicants must be full-time, second level student in good standing with a minimum G.P.A. of 2.5 or better and demonstrate financial need.  Individuals with an interest and potential for success in a career in oncology nursing will be given preference.

Charity School of Kendal Scholarship  

A scholarship awarded to a resident of western Stark County who is a student 24 years of age or younger and in good standing. Financial need is taken into consideration. Additional criteria may be required.

Dianne J. Gibbs Geriatric Scholarship

An annual scholarship awarded to a second level Aultman College nursing student who demonstrates interest and potential for success in a career in geriatric nursing.

Eileen Welker Williams Scholarship  

A scholarship awarded to a nursing student in memory of Eileen Welker Williams. Applicants must have completed nine (9) credit hours of course work with a minimum 2.5 GPA and demonstrate financial need.

Ella Mae Kuecher Memorial Scholarship

Scholarships awarded to a nursing student in memory of Ella Mae Kuecher. Applicants must be a full-time student at Aultman College and demonstrate financial need and academic potential.

Helen Rajkovich Scholarship  

A scholarship awarded to a nursing student in the memory of Helen J. Rajkovich, R.N. Applicants must be in good standing, a U.S. Citizen and demonstrate financial need.

Mary Roden Memorial Scholarship

Scholarships awarded to a nursing student in memory of Mary Roden. Applicants must be a full- time student at Aultman College with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Applicants must also demonstrate financial need and a desire and potential for success in a career in nursing.

SAL Compassion Award

A scholarship established by the family of Shirley Ann Livingston Ellsworth awarded to a senior nursing student in good standing.

Additional Scholarship Opportunities 

Josephine Walters CareStar Scholarship

The CareStar Nursing Scholarship Fund is named in memory of Josephine Walters because her life epitomized the best characteristics of the members of the nursing profession - caring and selfless service to others. The Josephine Walters CareStar Scholarship Fund specifically provides financial assistance to needy students pursuing an education in the health care field.   Please visit CareStar at http://www.carestar.com/about/corporatecitizenship.asp for additional information.

Margaret Lazar/Emma Lupher Scholarship

Annual, renewable scholarship awarded to incoming Aultman College freshman nursing students with a minimum high school GPA of 3.0 or college GPA of 2.5 who demonstrate financial need and academic potential. A non-traditional student’s professional experience will be considered in lieu of GPA.

T. Raymond Gregory Family Scholarship  

A scholarship awarded to a nursing student in memory of Marjorie Phyllis Gregory, R.N. The scholarship amount varies but is intended to cover 100% of tuition, fees, books and supplies for the entire program. Recipients must reside in Stark County and demonstrate financial need. Preference is given to employees and children of employees of Gregory Galvanizing and Metal.

 2015 Business Excellence Scholarship Award

PRESENTED BY DAY KETTERER AND THE CANTON REGIONAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE About the Scholarship: The Law Firm of Day Ketterer, in partnership with the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce, has established an annual scholarship to be awarded in conjunction with the Chamber’s Business Excellence Awards. The scholarship is designed to acknowledge the importance of the role of business in the community and the nation, and to encourage students to continue to expand their business and leadership skills and to contribute to their local business community upon graduation from college. Scholarship Amount: Increased to $2,000 in 2015! Criteria & Submission Details: Consideration for the scholarship: Strong academic achievement
1. Currently enrolled as a Stark County high school senior or currently enrolled as a Stark County university or college student.
2. 500-1000 word original essay entitled: “The Historical Role of Private Business in
Promoting Democracy Throughout the World.”
3. Candidate must be a Stark County resident.
4. Candidate must be available to attend the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Business Excellence Awards on Tuesday, May 5, 2015.
5. Employees, spouses, and family members of Day Ketterer Ltd. and the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce are not eligible to apply.
6. A one-time (non-renewable) college scholarship will be awarded to the winner.
7. The one-time scholarship can be used for tuition, room, board, textbooks, or other educational expenses at any university or college in the United States. The check will be sent directly to the college of the winner to be applied to the designated expense.
8. The application deadline is 5 p.m., Friday, March 13, 2015.

Please note: all essays and transcripts will be confidential. The scholarship will be awarded to the winner at The Canton Regional Chamber’s Business Excellence Awards Event on May 5, 2015.

 Women's Leadership Council Scholarship

United Way Women’s Leadership Council (WLC) will award multiple scholarships totaling $7,000 to female high school student seniors and/or non-traditional college students (Non-traditional students are those returning to post-secondary studies after some time out of school.). True to WLC's belief in the importance of community service, scholarship recipients will be active volunteers in the community.

WLC Scholarship Criteria

  • Female student.
  • Traditional student must be graduating from a Stark County high school; the non-traditional student must be a Stark County resident.
  • Minimum GPA of 2.75.
  • Graduating senior must be entering college as a full time student; the non- traditional student may be enrolled full time or part time.
  • Demonstrated commitment to community service.

WLC Scholarship Checklist

(Be sure you include all of the information with your application)

  • Applicant must be:
    • Female.
    • High school senior – or –
    • First year college/technical school student.
  • Submit your most recent transcript and a letter of reference from a teacher, volunteer supervisor, other adult.
