Heather has been practicing Social Work since 2011. She received her Bachelor’s in Social Work (BSW) in 2011 from Youngstown State University where she served as the Vice President of the Student Social Work Association. Following the completion of her BSW, she began working as a social worker for St. Elizabeth Health Center – a level 1 trauma center - in downtown Youngstown. This hospital experience provided her with much knowledge in discharge planning, community resources, crisis intervention, vast interpersonal skills, assessment skills, etc. In 2013, Heather went on to expand her social work skills and knowledge as a hospice social worker for Crossroads Hospice. During her time at Crossroads, she returned to school and completed her Master’s in Social Work (MSW) in 2015 from the University of Akron. Following her MSW, she began work for Aultman’s Palliative Care team working with many individuals in the community with chronic and/or terminal illnesses.
Heather has also assisted in the development of the courses for the BSW program here at Aultman College by developing and creating course syllabi. Additionally, she is a member of the Advisory Committee for Aultman College’s BSW program. Heather hopes that she can share and utilize her knowledge of the social work field in order to ensure not only effective field placements for students, but also a successful and fulfilling experience that leaves students ready and eager to enter to the world of social work.
