Wills, Estate Gifts, and Legacy Giving
Create a Lasting Legacy at Aultman College
One of the most meaningful ways to support future healthcare professionals is by including Aultman College in your estate plans. A legacy gift allows you to make a lasting impact on students pursuing careers in nursing, radiography, sonography, and other healthcare fields while creating a legacy that reflects your values and commitment to the community.
You Can Make a Legacy Gift By:
Naming Aultman College as a beneficiary of your retirement plan, life insurance policy, donor-advised fund, bank account, or investment account.
Including Aultman College in your will or trust through a specific bequest or percentage of your estate.
Sample Bequest Language
"I give, devise, and bequeath to the Aultman Foundation , a nonprofit institution of higher education located in Canton, Ohio, the sum of $________ (or _______% of my estate) to be used for its general purposes or as directed by Aultman College."

Gifts from Retirement Accounts
Retirement assets can be among the most tax-efficient ways to support Aultman College. By making charitable gifts directly from your retirement account, you may reduce taxes, satisfy required distributions, and maximize the impact of your philanthropy.
- Required Minimum Distributions (RMD): If you are over age 73 and are required to distribute funds from your retirement plan, you can satisfy your annual RMD and avoid paying income tax on the distribution by giving directly to Aultman College.
- Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD): If you are over age 70 ½, you can distribute up to $108,000 (individually) or $216,000 (filing jointly) per year from your IRA directly to Aultman College without paying income tax. This counts toward your annual RMD fulfillment. Additionally, it may reduce your taxable income.
- Legacy IRA Transfer: If you are over age 70 ½, you can make a one-time tax-free donation of up to $54,000 from an IRA directly to a charitable gift annuity or remainder trust that benefits Aultman College. This is in addition to the QCD amount.
- Beneficiary Designation: You may name Aultman College as a beneficiary of your IRA, 401(k), 403(b), or other retirement accounts. Because retirement assets can be heavily taxed when passed to heirs, they are often among the most advantageous assets to leave to a charitable organization.
We encourage you to consult with your financial advisor, tax professional, or estate planning attorney regarding the current rules and benefits associated with retirement account gifts.
Endowment Giving
An endowed gift to Aultman College provides support not only for today's students but for generations to come. Endowment funds are invested for long-term growth, with a portion of the earnings distributed annually to support scholarships, academic programs, faculty excellence, and student success.
Through the generosity of donors, the Aultman College Endowment has grown significantly in recent years, creating new opportunities for students pursuing healthcare careers.
Establishing an Endowed Fund
You may create a named endowed scholarship or program fund to honor yourself, a loved one, a healthcare professional, or an organization. Endowed funds provide permanent support and can reflect your personal philanthropic interests.
In many cases, donors may also be eligible for matching opportunities that can significantly increase the long-term impact of their gift.
Other Assets and Giving Strategies
The Aultman Foundation may accept a variety of charitable gifts, including:
Real estate
Appreciated securities and stock
Closely held business interests
Personal property and other assets, subject to College gift acceptance policies
Our team would be pleased to work with you and your professional advisors to explore the giving strategy that best meets your financial, philanthropic, and family goals.
