Ways to Give FAQ's

What kind of gifts does Aultman College accept?

Aultman College gratefully accepts gifts of cash, checks, credit card payments, publicly traded stocks, and gifts from donor advised funds. We may also consider gifts of real estate, artwork, or other valuable property on a case-by-case basis.

Some gifts cannot be accepted if they violate our mission or pose undue liability, but we’re happy to talk with you if you have questions about a possible gift.

What kind of gift does Aultman College not accept?

We will not accept gifts that:

  • are inconsistent or conflict with the mission, purpose, and priorities of Aultman College
  • violate the terms of our corporate charter
  • could result in our violating federal or state laws
  • are unduly burdensome to administer or sell
  • pose an unacceptable risk of liability to Aultman College
  • benefit a specified Aultman College student or personally benefit a faculty or staff member

If you have questions about whether your intended gift will be accepted, please contact us.

What is an Allotment? Why is it attached to my gift?

Like many higher education institutions and other non-profit organizations across the country, Aultman College applies a one-time allotment to all gifts. The Board of Directors determines the amount of the allotment, which is currently 5 percent. The allotment helps support the cost of the University’s Philanthropy efforts.

Can I designate my gift?

Yes! At Aultman College, you can absolutely designate your gift to a specific program that is most meaningful. Simply choose your preferred designation on our secure, Our Online Form, or let The Aultman Foundation know your wishes and we are happy to help.

If you’re unsure where to give, we encourage you to consider making a donation to the Student Emergency Fund. These gifts are especially beneficial because they directly support our greatest needs and opportunities and help us respond to the college’s highest and most pressing priorities.

Can my employer match my gift?

Yes! Through an employer match, you are doubling the impact of your support!

First, check to see if your company supports a charitable contribution match by contacting your human resources department. Many organizations provide an online form. If you are using a physical form, please mail it to:

The TAF Foundation

2600 Sixth Street SW
Canton, OH 44710

Can I make a gift to honor or in memory of a loved one?

Yes! You can make a gift to honor or remember an individual or loved one. After you have made your gift, if you desire, Aultman College is happy to inform that individual or their family of your gift.

Why does the Acknowledgement Letter for my gift of stock not include a value?

Unlike cash, gifts of appreciated securities are treated as gifts of property. In accordance with IRS regulations, Aultman College lists the date received, name of the security, and number of shares. Please consult with your own advisor about how the tax rules apply to you.

Will I receive a receipt for tax purposes after I make my gift?

Yes! Aultman College will mail an acknowledgment letter within four weeks of receiving a gift, except for monthly donations. Monthly donors will receive a summary donation statement each January for tax purposes in the following calendar year.

If you don’t receive your letter within that time, please get in touch with us at Eric.Belden@aultman.com or 330.490.7049. We’d be happy to help!
