The mission of the associate degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography program is to prepare competent entry-level sonographers in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains for the Adult cardiac and vascular sonography concentrations. The program advocates lifelong learning and professional growth so that the graduates will continue to impact the community positively.

Hands-on learning is at the heart of Aultman College’s Diagnostic Medical Sonography program. Students gain real-world experience through clinical rotations at a variety of healthcare sites, applying their classroom knowledge in professional settings. Expect a full, immersive schedule on campus and in clinicals up to five days a week with students responsible for their own transportation to clinical locations.
Students gain real-world experience through clinical rotations at Aultman Health System locations and other healthcare sites across Northeast Ohio, all within approximately 1 hour and half of the college. These rotations provide diverse, hands-on learning opportunities that prepare students for success in the field.
Graduates of Aultman College's 65-hour Associate of Applied Science in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (AASDMS) program are prepared to sit for either the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) and/or the Cardiovascular Credentialing International certification exam. AASDMS graduates are eligible for employment in hospitals, clinics, or physician offices as a Cardiac Sonographer and/or a Vascular Technologist.
