Aultman College Launches Medical Assisting Certificate Program

Medical assisting will join nursing, radiography, social work, and health sciences as the newest program offering at Aultman College.

The Medical Assisting Certificate Program will take its first group of students in fall 2019 and is now accepting applications.

“Medical assistants work alongside physicians, mainly in outpatient or ambulatory care facilities, such as medical offices and clinics,” said Tammy McClish, director of the medical assisting program. “They are cross-trained to perform administrative and clinical duties, making them versatile members of the medical team.”

“Our Medical Assisting Program is a unique partnership between Aultman Health Foundation and Aultman College that will provide high quality, focused education to prepare graduates to enter into the health care workforce as medical assisting professionals skilled in both front and back medical office competencies,” said Dr. Amanda Espenschied-Reilly, dean of foundational education and health professions. “This two-semester certificate program is an exciting new venture for the college, and we are eager to welcome our first cohort in fall 2019.”
