Aultman College is pleased to announce it was selected as a Choose Ohio First (COF) grant recipient. COF funding is provided by the State of Ohio and the Department of Higher Education (ODHE) to improve Ohio’s workforce and economy. This five-year grant to Aultman College is for $216,000 and is to be used for nursing and medical assisting scholarships.
“The Choose Ohio First program at Aultman College provides an excellent opportunity for students who stay in Ohio to continue their education and get the skills they need to serve as frontline healthcare workers,” said Randy Gardner, chancellor of the ODHE. “Aultman has a history of successfully preparing students for critical healthcare careers in Northeast Ohio, and this new scholarship will enhance those efforts.”
Dr. Jean Paddock, president of Aultman College, added, “This grant will provide students in need that have an interest in healthcare careers an opportunity to further their education. These graduates will fill the substantial vacancies in health care and will lift our community through their leadership and studies received from Aultman College. We want to thank the State of Ohio for its support in providing our institution with this grant.”
COF funds higher education and business collaborations that will have the most impact on Ohio’s position in world markets such as aerospace, medicine, computer technology, and alternative energy. COF is part of a strategic effort to bolster Ohio’s economic strength by ensuring a ready workforce for STEMM-related industries.
