Big Changes Happening on Aultman College's Campus

Significant changes have been happening at Aultman College. Here is an owl’s-eye-view of what has been going on:

New Rad EquipmentIn 2020, Aultman College received a grant from the Fred F. Silk Charitable Foundation to upgrade the radiography positioning laboratory equipment located in the Bettie Sponseller classroom/lab.  The non-energized x-ray equipment was installed in the laboratory in August/September of 2020. Energized radiography equipment produces radiation when activated, exposing the less experienced users to radiation. The new equipment is non-energized, meaning it does not emit radiation thus providing students with a safe, hands-on experience for positioning lab education. The Aultman College Radiography program also has access to fully operational, energized equipment via a clinical partner with Aultman Hospital. The students benefit from the updated equipment, which accelerates their acquisition of knowledge of digital radiography systems.

A similar but smaller Clinical Anatomage Table was purchased providing the same features from the anatomy lab into the classroom and beyond. The new software available on both Anatomage Tables will enable students to study and experience four full-size human cadavers with 3D dissections and annotations as well as manipulatable physiology, like EKG heart function. Students can immerse themselves in the hands-on experience enhancing the traditional classroom by providing hundreds of fully interactive case studies and high-resolution images.

The nursing division had some upgrades to the skills lab with five medium-fidelity simulation models as well. Four heart and lung sound simulators (two juveniles and two adults) were purchased. These simulators train students where to position their stethoscope to hear heart and lung sounds correctly. Also, one blood pressure training system was purchased for students to perform blood pressure auscultation procedures properly.

Lastly, our campus is receiving some refreshes to furniture and hallways to welcome students back this fall. Be on the lookout for upgrades to the front desk, Aully’s Nest, and other areas of the college.
